December 2008 New formula, new procedure.
Eureka! We
succeeded in stabilizing dissolved Amidol. The tests were running
since January 2008. The charges are stable for almost a year now
and it seems that they will resist oxidation for a couple of more
years.
AMIDOL solo Concentrated
stock solutions have some advantages for the user. As is known, amidol
developers are stable only for a short time and thus a working solution
has to be prepared before each printing session. Now it is possible
to prepare the amidol developer without effort from two concentrates
and water. The auto oxidation of the working solution is insignificantly
low, used solutions can be kept for a few weeks in PE or glass bottles
when filled up to the top.
You can find a tutorial for
developing with amidol and the “water bath method” in
the data sheet.
Packaging:
2x 250ml for 750-1500ml
of working solution 2x 500ml for 1500-3000ml of working solution 2x
1000ml for 3000-6000ml of working solution
AMIDOL
plus In this introduced example two solutions are prepared
from three concentrates: 1. First developer ( Amidol
+ oxidation protector ). Mixture: A1 100ml + A2 100ml + 200 to 700ml
of water. 2. Activator bath (weak alkaline solution).
B 50ml + 1000ml water
The first bath is for developing
for a minute up to two until shades and middle tones appear. In
the second bath the density is raised, not until here the highlights
appear. Complete development (depending on paper brand) should take
between 2 and 3, 5 minutes.
The prepared developer can
be used until exhaustion. The activator solution has to be prepared
fresh for each printing session.
